The basic BPCS consist of a Ventilated Control Panel (to be housed within a suitable
building or pump room) containing a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC),
two VFDs, 24 VDC Power Supply, Alarm Beacon, Circuit Breaker Disconnect,
Automatic/Manual Pump Selection and Alarm Acknowledge Pushbutton.
The PLC receives the Analog Signal from the Pressure Transducer and transfers
the correct math for the Analog Output Level to the VFDs. The PLC determines
which pump is lead or lag and automatically changes lead lag pump designation
after each 100 hours of LEAD pump runtime. Accumulated runtime of each pump
is maintained in the PLC Memory for maintenance and pump life information.
Alarm conditions monitored are: loss of Street Pressure ( electro-mechanical
pressure switch ) input supply line, VFD malfunction, low output pressure and
manual pump selection.
